Google Trip

We, 10th grade students, visited Google Inc. Zurich. We left the school at 12: 15 to catch a train from the Oberwinterthur station which will directly take us to Enge. In a moment we reached the main building of Google from the train station. We met Mr. van Winkle, because of whom this event was organised. We were taken to the meeting room. While going to the meeting room we had a chance to catch a glimpse of the office. We were given brief information about the company Google starting from the early years and till now. Mr. van Winkle also talked about his work in the company. Additionally, he had also kept a Q & A round after his presentation. As a result, we could clear our queries related to Google. Next we were divided into three groups and taken on a tour in the company. We were shown the micro-kitchens, restaurants, game rooms, library and the office. Meanwhile everyone was coming back, we asked the Mr. van Winkle few more questions and shared what we found to be the most interesting. All of a sudden it was time for us to leave. We all thanked Mr. van Winkle and left for the train station.

Reflection:
My trip to Google was really great. I enjoyed thoroughly. It was good know about Google. How does it work or what is Google's aim were some of the things I got to learn from this trip. I got some answers to my questions which I probably wouldn't have received google-ing it. There are some questions which I couldn't ask and one of them was important for me. 'Why did Google choose to make a company in Switzerland(where it is expensive) and not in other countries where it is not very expensive?'. This is a question important for me because if Google is making a company in an expensive there has to be a reason. Why will a spend so much money if it can get the same thing done in other country which is comparatively cheaper. It is not only software engineers but also mechanical engineers do work at Google. It is also a lot of learning.

  1. The transitions help to clarify the chronology of the events.
I never thought about why they chose Switzerland, its a great question. Maybe they chose Switzerland because its in the center of Europe, so people from al around Europe can access it.
