Google Trip- Ruben

The class first listened to a presentation given by Caroline`s father, a googler. He explained to us what Google is composed of, how an average work day works, and many other interesting topics. Then he told us how big google is, using the amount of existing data centers, to help describe to us. However, I did know some of the facts he told us, because I studied about Google and did a presentation on it, a few years ago. After the presentation, we were split into groups and were given a tour around the building. We were shown what kind of work gets done each floor, and other sections of the floor such as the cafeteria or a relaxing lounge.

By listening to the presentation, and having that tour around the building, I learned a lot more than I knew about Google and how it works. For example I learned how much cooling an average data center needs, what kind of information it holds,  how often one gets broken and repaired, and how they measure the size of a data center by its Megawatts. On the other hand, there were some information he wasnt allowed to tell us, as an example, how many computers Google owns, because Google didnt want this kind of information to be known by other companies. As a result, I was happy that our class could go out and visit one of the top leading companies in the world, and learn a lot why the world relies on it, and the importance of it.
