I am From - Caroline van Winkel

I am From

I am from my mother's womb
Born the eighteenth of July
I am from an early morning
Born at 04.35

I am from Driebergen and Copenhagen
1/4 Danish, 3/4 Dutch
I am from two cultures
No problem to adjust

I am from a family of four
A family that wasn't poor
I am from rich with love and care
With parents always there

I am from candy on my bread
And cheese the best there is
I am from hazel-chocolate spread
And also good fresh fish

I am from being frugal
Don't spend more than must
I am from fixing what was broken
Negotiating costs

I'm from a place so full of bliss
I am from a country that I miss

  1. I really like how there are two meanings in line 11, as it could mean being rich with Money or being rich with love. -Verena

  2. I do really like the ending, it tells on one hand about you and your feeling and on the other that everybody should have see it and been there. Attending to that I like the vocabulary you have used.

  3. The start of the poem is very good since the details are covered in proper way. The ending two things are the best about the poem.
