Yesterday, Land Before Time entertained
a little girl while her windows were still enveloped
by soft darkness
while her father stole more sleep
The little girl soon grew bigger
and was still enchanted
with other worlds
but these worlds came on paper
Today, the girl is no longer little
and hasn't been for a long time
She now uses books to escape
Devouring little black text
and softly glowing pictures alike
Her computer gives her comfort
whether by linking her with a friend
half-way across the world
or letting her sink
into the repetition of alt+reblog
Tomorrow, she hopes college
will bring her to her people
Others who also drink new information
like a dying man in the desert
She dreams of red rock and black nights
strewn with the possibility of other life
She desires to travel
to places such as
Australia, whose animals fascinate her
India, whose rich culture enraptures her
or Greece, whose old gods enthrall her
But she fears she never will go
because she can't escape
all the practical reasons telling her
she will never be rich enough
never have time
never have the opportunity
The girl has always tried
to bury herself in other realities
but will tomorrow's promise be enough
to keep her in this one?

I thought the similes 'like a dying man in the desert' put a lot of emphasis which was great. I don't notice any rhyme. I think the use of 'devouring' was really strong and passionate. I enjoyed the overall content because it was about growths and interests. Also how it was told like a story.
